In this half-music-toy, half-puzzle-platformer, a gaggle of “songsharks” must be arranged perfectly in order for you to reach your goal. However, the level editor is also a midi sequencer! The placement of each songshark will alter the game’s music, and after beating a level its melody will be added to the game’s background music.

Messy Mechanics is a procedurally-generated skill platformer with a constantly-changing ruleset. Players must navigate past platforming challenges in order to reach the goal before a slow-moving wall of darkness catches up with them. Every time a player progresses to the next level, a new rule is applied to the game’s terrain, leading to unpredictable systemic gameplay.
